November 30 - Message from Ron

I was saddened to hear the news of George's death. We had been playing an excerpt from "Here Comes The Sun" in the middle of "Feel For You". Hoping that there'd be some miracle cure... Anyway, I've been thinking alot about him these past few days and his great contribution to the Beatles and the music world in general.

On Thursday November 29, Ron Sexsmith will visit The Iain Anderson Show which airs on BBC Scotland. All of you can tune in to the live webcast between 2:00 and 3:00 PM GMT, that's between 9:00 and 10:00 AM Eastern Time. Ron will play several songs along with the interview portion. Listen in!

Ron Sexsmith stopped by The Acoustic Cafe earlier this year. An interview and performance session was taped and will air this week on a radio station near you - if you're in the USA. Take a look at the Tour Dates for a few more shows which have been added: a second night in Galway plus Paris and Austria. That should be all for the rest of the year but, you never know what might happen!

Last night at Lee's Palace in Toronto, it finally happened. Ron Sexsmith stepped onto the stage with one of his biggest influences: Elton John. It seems they were both there to see Ryan Adams. Elton John has long expressed his admiration for Ryan just as he has for Ron. When Elton took to the piano for Rocket Man, Ryan asked Ron to come up and sing along. Elton and Ron had a brief chat after the show. Ron says "it made my night."

As you know, Ron is admired by many of his peers. This admiration has led two artists to ask Ron to join them as a very special guest. Dar Williams has invited Ron to appear at the Beacon Theatre in New York on October 6 and Jackie Levin has asked Ron to co-headline a few shows in Germany, mid-October. September 7

As previously reported here, Ron Sexsmith will perform at the Canadian Country Music Awards. The show is Monday September 10 from the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary and will be broadcast live on TV (CBC in Canada, CMT in the US), 8:00-10:00 P.M. EST. Ron will sing "If You Could Read My Mind" as part of the Hall of Fame induction of Gordon Lightfoot.

BREAKING NEWS!!! Ron Sexsmith will be a part of the Canadian Country Music Awards, as part of the Hall of Fame induction of one of his musical idols: Gordon Lightfoot. The awards show takes place on September 10 in Calgary AB, Canada and will be televised. More details in the days to come.

Please be aware that, due to this fantastic honor for Ron, he will not be appearing with Lucinda Williams in New Haven CT as previously announced.

August 23

Earlier this summer, Ron Sexsmith and band made an appearance on Conan O'Brien - if any of you tuned in, you probably saw basketball. The show was pushed into the wee hours of the morning by some sort of playoff game. But good news: the show is being rerun on Monday August 27! Please check local listings for time and channel.

In July, Ron Sexsmith and his band played the prestigious Fuji Rock Festival in Japan. If you missed the original webcast, you have another chance to catch it. On Saturday at 4:30 PM Japan Time / 2:30 AM Eastern Time, Ron's performance will be repeated. Set your alarm clocks and tune in here. Ron Sexsmith and band will be on tour with Lucinda Williams in the US in September and October. The confirmed shows are posted on the Tour Dates page, more may be announced soon. As always, all dates are subject to change. Please check with each venue for more details.

Earlier this summer Ron visited The World Cafe at WXPN. The interview and performance were taped and will be broadcast on Thursday August 16. Check local radio listings for times and stations. It will also be available online from various radio stations' webcasts, starting as early as 12 Noon - you can find those listings here.

August 10

In early June, Ron participated in the NXNE music conference in Toronto. One of the panels he was on was the SOCAN Songwriter's Panel. Also on the panel were Jimmy Rankin and Cara Luft among others. Now you can see what went on that day, just as if you were in the room! It will be archived for one year.

August 8

Ron Sexsmith is taking a short break from touring. Since the release of Blue Boy, Ron and band have covered Canada, the US, England, Ireland, Japan and Australia - where, the night following his two sold out shows in Sydney, Ron made a surprise appearance as a special invited guest with Coldplay at the Enmore Theatre. Look for Ron to resume touring in September, dates to be announced soon.

July 26

Ron Sexsmith is appearing this weekend at the Fuji Rock Festival, one of the most prestigious events in the world. Along with that, Ron will make a special in-store appearance at the Virgin Mega Store in Tokyo on Saturday July 28th, at 2:00 PM. The store is located in the Keio Shinjuku Building, 3-1-13 Sinjuku-ku, Tokyo. Ron will play a solo acoustic set, have a chat with the emcee and will stick around to meet fans and sign autographs.

July 20

Ron Sexsmith and the band are heading to the UK. While in London, Ron has a few interviews which will be webcast. On Monday July 23, 11:00 PM London time, Ron will stop by for a chat and some music with Richard Allinson on BBC Radio Two. On Wednesday July 25, at 11:00 AM London time, Ron visits the Robert Elms Show on BBC London Live. Ron will also tape an interview for BBC Scotland for broadcast Thursday July 26 on the Iain Anderson Show. If you are unsure about the times in part of the world, visit the Personal World Clock.

So many Ron related goodies to share: this time it's from Sound Circus in Japan. When Ron was there, he taped a greeting and a lovely version of Tell Me Again from Blue Boy. Yes, it IS in Japanese but go partway down the left side, you'll see a button that says PLAY - click on it and there you go.

On June 1, Ron Sexsmith took to the street of Toronto to shoot his latest video. Directed by Lisa Mann, This Song is the first video from Blue Boy. In the coming weeks, you will be able to view the full clip with Windows MediaPlayer but for an advance sneak peek, take a look!

Ron Sexsmith's Blue Boy is released today in most territories around the world. This record, produced by Steve Earle and Ray Kennedy, is already garnering rave reviews. Keep an eye on the Tour Dates to see when Ron will visit your town.

Late Breaking News - word has just come in that Ron Sexsmith will be on NPR's Fresh Air on Tuesday June 5th, which as you should know by now is the release date of Blue Boy. For those of you unable to tune in, Ron's performance on Fresh Air can be heard online with RealAudio when it is archived by the end of the day of airing.

May 21 - Message from Ron

Greetings everybody and welcome to my new site. We hope that it's agreeable to all those concerned. I'm also very excited to announce the first release date of "Blue Boy" in Japan today, May 21st! It will be followed closely by Ireland on June 1st and by the rest of the world on June 5th. I hope it'll be worth the wait. I'm looking forward to what will be a busy year on the road, with a new record, a new band and maybe even a few new jokes. For those in North America you can see us on the Conan O'Brien on June 15th, and we've also taped an episode of the Mike Bullard show which should air around the first week of June (We'll keep you posted) So, until then take care of yourselves.
