A Message From Ron

Hi everybody...

Well we've just finished recording on my new record and so all that remains is mixing, mastering, album art and then hopefully we can get it out somehow in 2010. It's been a wonderful session from start to finish and I'm excited for y'all to hear it. With any luck I'll be hitting the road with a full band and a truck load of new songs.

Until then, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and nothing but the best in 2010.

Ron on "Spectacle"

Fans in the US, take note: Ron's appearance on Spectacle: Elvis Costello with... will air at 10 pm tomorrow night, December 16, on the Sundance channel. Ron guests alongside a wonderful group of musicians including Sheryl Crow, Neko Case, and Jesse Winchester. The show combines the best elements of talk and music television and lets viewers in on intimate conversations and performances by Elvis and his guests.

Viewers outside of the US: Don't despair, the episode will air in early 2010. Hold tight and keep checking your local listings!

"Maybe This Christmas" Gets Around!

Just a little reminder for all of you looking to start getting festive- Ron's track "Maybe This Christmas" is featured on two new holiday compilations this season!

From The Heart Christmas was released November 10, 2009, and features fifteen fantastically festive songs by a variety of artists including Michael Bublé, Jim Cuddy, Rob Thomas, and Spirit Of The West.

Ron also provides the title track on Maybe This Christmas – A Holiday Collection, due for release on December 1, 2009. With songs by The Flaming Lips, Sugar Ray, Great Big Sea, and Sarah Slean, this iTunes exclusive is sure to be a favourite for many holiday seasons to come!

Ron and Michael top the charts!

Ron is featured on Michael Buble new album, Crazy Love, which has topped the charts around the globe. Michael and Ron duet on a new version of Ron's "Whatever It Takes". There's also a special shout out about the song on the back cover and Michael has been talking about Ron in most of his recent interviews. They've talked about working together for a long time, so it's great to see that dream come true.

In other news, Ron is currently in the studio working on his next album!

Ron to appear on Spectacle: Elvis Costello with...

Now this is exciting: Ron has been asked to appear on an episode of Spectacle: Elvis Costello with... The episode, which will also feature Neko Case, Sheryl Crow and Jesse Winchester, will be taped on September 21 at the legendary Apollo Theatre in New York City.

If you're going to be in the city on September 21 then head here to register for a pair of free tickets to the event. Make sure you enter RON1 in the comments field. Tickets are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Please do not request tickets unless you are sure you can be at the Apollo Theatre on September 21 by 7:45 pm.

Some further information on the taping:

General

• You must be at least 18 years of age to attend
• Please be on time – late-comers, without exception, will be denied admittance
• Cameras and video cameras will be strictly prohibited
• Cell phones must be switched off for the duration of the show – security will confiscate any cell phones being used for phone, text, photography or video-taping purposes
• Back-packs, luggage or briefcases of any kind will be prohibited – purses and/or messenger bags will be permitted but subject to search
• Coat/Bag Check services will not be provided
• Outside food & beverage of any kind will be neither permitted nor provided inside the theatre

Dress: Upscale

• As this event is being taped, the wearing of visibly logo’d clothing, white clothing, t-shirts, ripped clothes, dirty tennis shoes, hats and/or baseball caps are all grounds for denial of entrance
  
• Decisions are based solely upon the discretion of event door staff
  
• Please dress respectfully and appropriately to avoid being turned away at the door

On July 30 at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, a very special evening of music was held to commemorate the re-release of Bob Wiseman's long out of print album In Her Dream. The evening saw a veritable who's who of Canadian music come together to celebrate the music of one of Canada's most fearless songwriter, including Ron and his trusted sidekick Don Kerr. The duo took the stage to perform the song "All The Trees" and video has now been uploaded for all to enjoy. Have a look and then make sure you check out some of the other clips from this wonderful event.

Benefit for War Child Canada

Ron will perform at a benefit for War Child Canada on September 14 at the Dakota Tavern in Toronto. At 8:00 PM, duo Colleen and Paul will open the show, followed by Ron with a full band. Tickets can be purchased at MapleMusic.

Ron records with Michael Buble

In early June, Ron was invited into a Los Angeles recording studio to work with Michael Buble. The session, produced by David Foster, was for a new recording of Ron's "Whatever It Takes," (originally from Retriever) which will be included on Michael Buble's forthcoming album. He asked Ron to come and record the song as a duet, though we won't be sure how it all turns out until the record is released.

Whatever the end result, it will be good news for Ron!

Ron to play two show at Hugh's Room

Newsflash: Ron has booked a pair of intimate solo shows at Hugh's Room in Toronto, on June 1 and 2. RonSexsmith.com members will have the first shot at tickets to these very special shows when our exclusive presales begin this Friday, April 24, at 11 am EDT.

Ron in Halifax this weekend!

Ron will be in Halifax for four nights at the Carleton, April 19-22. This near-secret show is sold out for three nights with just a few tickets left for the fourth. The Carleton, built in 1769, is a very small restaurant providing a unique opportunity for an intimate evening of Ron's music not often experienced. Those fortunate enough to attend will be treated to songs from throughout Ron's career.

Ron concert to be broadcast on German radio this Monday!

On Monday March 9, the German Public Radio Program NDR2 will air Ron's November 2008 Hamburg concert. Ron's fans from all around the world can tune in to the webcast at 9:00 PM German time - that's 4:00 Eastern Time, 1:00 Pacific Time. If you're not sure what time that is where you live, check out the World Clock.

Ron to open for Nick Lowe

UK fans have something to look forward to: Ron will be joining the legendary Nick Lowe as his special guest on an eleven-date tour of England this spring. Kicking off on May 11 at the Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts & Literature, the jaunt will wrap up in Gateshead on May 25.

Ron nominated for a 2009 Juno Award

A round of applause please: at a press conference held this morning, it was announced that Ron's brilliant Exit Strategy of the Soul has been nominated for a Juno in the Adult Alternative Album of the Year category. The awards will be handed out in a ceremony to be held in Vancouver on March 29. Break out the bubbly!
