    Retriever

I think it was worth making the Retriever POLL again, to get each song listed for a vote

Retriever is easily one of Ron's very best albums

I voted Not About To Lose. For ages my favourite song on this was Tomorrow In Her Eyes, but that got edged out recently by the more upbeat NATL.

    Re: Retriever

I love how well-balanced the votes for some of the albums are.
It just shows how many many equally great songs each and every album has!
The future is so bright I've gotta wear shades

    Re: Retriever

This one took a long time to sneak up on me...I wasn't used to the production at first, but now I adore it!

    Re: Retriever

Did I vote in this? Can't remember anymore. But I just heard Ron do a beautiful solo version of Dandelion Wine at the Ottawa Folk Festival and his live solo performances always make me listen more carefully to the lyrics. This sad, beautiful song really lingers in my mind.

The first song on the CD that become the #1 hit of my brain's radio station was Imaginary Friends ;)

"Imaginary Friends", "From Now On" and "Wishing Wells" are equally great in my book. I voted the latter.

I just cant get the bridge section of Imaginary Friends out of my head.

    Sublime lyric and melody.

    Re: Retriever

Retriever is a very important album for me. It helped get through a very dufficult time. For a few months, the only times when i felt (almost) OK was when i was listening to this Cd in my car. In fact, i still love it so much that i'm, in a way, always looking for another retriever each time a new Ron Sexsmith album is out. Thanks to Ron for helping me remembering that there is beauty in this world!

    Re: Retriever

I'm surprised with the number of votes that got "Happiness" - is it a joke or what?

I of course have nothing against this song, I'm just surprised with the big difference of votes in comparison to the other tracks.

    Re: Retriever

I didn't vote but I'd go for Dandelion Wine, Tomorrow in her Eyes and I know it Well (which I think is a lovely but maybe under-rated song).

    Re: Retriever

+1 on "I Know It Well", Chris. The lyric is a great gift to this listener. And the bridge gives me the vapors.

    Re: Retriever

It was a hard decision for me to make between "Hard Bargain", "Imaginary Friends" and "From Now On" - in the end the last one made it. It's such an uplifting, positive song - I LOVE it.
