It's
been a tough year thinking back on all the great artists we've lost. But I
think Elliott Smith's passing, in some way, is the saddest because I believe he
had so much more great music in him. I had the pleasure of meeting him on a few
occasions... once in LA in the lobby of the Roosevelt Hotel..and once in London
at the Royal Albert Hall and both times I was struck by his shyness and
kindness. It was encouraging for me as a semi-struggling songwriter to see him
breakthrough and it always made me try that much harder. I was lucky enough to
see him perform once in New York as well, which I remember as being a bit
frustrating because he sat on a stool and I couldn't see him at all from the
back of the room. Anyway, I wish he could have stuck around a bit longer but I
guess the soul wants what the soul wants. The world will miss him very much.
Sincerely,
Ron

I
was saddened today by the news of Johnny Cash. His music meant so much to me.
Whether he was singing an original or a cover, he always made it his own. Even
on his most recent album, well known songs like "The First Time Ever I Saw
Your Face" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" took on a new and
more poignant depth. His voice and presence were awe-inspiring and never failed
to provide comfort and encouragement to my ears and my heart. I hope he and
June have found comfort as well.
Love,
Ron

On
Tuesday, September 23, Ron will join together with Jerry Fish & The
Mini-bug Club, Mundy, Steve Wall, Joe Wall, Katell Keineg, Nina Hynes and
others, at Vicar Street in Dublin for a Tribute to Bob Dylan. Anyone who has
seen Ron live knows that he is often likely to throw a Dylan song or two into
his set list. It should be a fun night of music but more importantly, it is for
a great cause. It's a joint venture benefit between Gorta/Scarlett which is
working on a project in South Africa called "Grannies". In essence, they
try to find Grannies to foster children whose parents are dead or dying of
AIDS; there are literally thousands of homeless children as a result of AIDS in
Africa. The money from this show will go to support the 'Grannies Project'.

Sexsmith - Rarities. It has the track listing and how to get the cd... most
retail locations in Canada, on the road with Ron and ordering through online

Hi all.... I've been pretty busy what with the Aimee Mann dates in Europe and
The Wallflowers tour of the US, so I hope this is a better late than never
situation. The shows have been going quite well, and The Wallflowers tour
especially was one of the best times I've had on the road. They're a great band
and Jakob writes truly wonderful songs. Thanks to all the people who came out
to cheer me on as well as The Wallflowers fans who were very kind. In a few
weeks I head out on what is probably the longest string of dates so far - a few
weeks with Coldplay in the USA followed by Japan, Australia, New Zealand,
Ireland, UK and (I think) Belgium. The fall is looking quite busy too, with
possible Canadian and USA tours and another trip to Europe with any luck. So to
close, I want to thank you all for your interest and your thoughts on the
bulletin board. It's very much appreciated. Hope to see you all somewhere down
the road.
Love,
Ron

Hi
everybody -
We just got home from what turned out to be a great tour with Coldplay. I'm
always a bit hesitant when I have to open up for an act, but we were all
pleasantly surprised at the reception we got and what truly great guys they
are. During the tour we managed to film a video for "Gold In Them
Hills" as well, which I hope will see the light of day soon.
The biggest surprise for me though, came on the last night in Phoenix when Glen
Campbell knocked on my dressing room door. (Apparently his son had turned him
on to my stuff.) I've always been a fan and knowing he was in the audience made
us all play better too. Anyway, I'm not
sure what our next move is, but thanks again for all your interest.
Love,
Ron

Hello people... Sorry I haven't written much lately over the holidays.
I hope they were good ones for y'all. I just wanted to wish everyone a
Happy 2008. It's shaping up to be another busy year. With any luck
there'll be a new record by the spring - just currently sorting out the
mixes and worrying about everything as usual. Looking forward to the
upcoming Australian dates. I'll be appearing in trio format with Jason
Mercer and Mark Mariash. It's been awhile since I played with that set
up so I hope it will be a good sound. (I was determined to bring some
sort of band this time!) Other than that, I'm just trying to make a few
resolutions and keep one of them perhaps. Hope to see you out there
this year.
Love and luck, Ron Sexsmith

As the year winds down, Ron has just a few more things to do. On Friday December 7, he will participate in the CBC's Sounds of the Seasons.

monetary donation) from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM to be part of the live
audience. All day long, special guests will be performing with Ron
making his appearance shortly after 5:00 PM Eastern Time. If you're not
in the Toronto area, listen live on the web.

and some with Blue Rodeo backing him up. He even may play on some of
their songs. Luke Doucette and Oh Susanna will be also be on select
shows. Since these are not full Ron shows, we won't post the gigs in
the Tour Dates. But the tour is definitely worth catching - you never
know what might happen. The itinerary is:

By
now, many of you may know that Ron Sexsmith duets on a single in the UK called
"Lo Mismo Que Yo (If Only)" by the Alex Cuba Band. The group, led by
Alexis Puentes, is made up of sons of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club
musicians. Their album, Humo De Tobaco was produced by Martin Terefe. The
single, with vocals shared by Alexis and Ron, has garnered much attention at
BBC Radio2 and will be released on October 25 (UK only at this time). You can
pre-order the single online through HMV, Virgin
Megastore, Woolworths and other fine online retail outlets. You can also do
it the old fashioned way: walk into a shop on Monday, buy the single and take
it right home.

news here regarding Ron and John McDermott in 2006.

For
the last two years, Ron's "Maybe This Christmas" has been prominently
featured in The O.C.'s Christmas episodes - or rather, their
Chrismukkuh episodes. The song was also included on The O.C. Mix3 Soundtrack,
along with seasonal songs by Rooney, Jimmy Eat World, The Ravonettes and more.
Now you can send a holiday
e-card to
your friends and family to let them know you're thinking of them (and that they
should pick up a copy of this fantastic soundtrack). Merry Chrismukkah
everyone!

A
live version of Ron's "I Know It Well" has been included on a new
compilation from KPRI out of San Diego called KPRI's Live Tracks -
Vol. III. It was recorded during his June 2004 visit to the station. Other
artists on the album include Kathleen Edwards, Keane, John Fogarty, Jason Mraz
- a very diverse selection. Proceeds from the sale of this album go to the San
Diego organization called Voices For Children, an advocacy group for foster children in the
San Diego area.

Happy
Holidays Everybody
I've just returned from LA where tracking has finally been completed on my new
record. It was nice working with Mitchell Froom again and I'm hoping the
results will be agreeable to all those concerned. I'm feeling very excited
about 2006 in general - I'm looking forward to hitting the road with the new
record and playing for everyone again. The Massey Hall show will be a definite
career high point for me... hope some of you can make it out to that one.
Well, until next time, have a Happy Holiday Season and take care of yourselves.
Love Ron

Widdel and Teitur. About her original duet with Ron, Ane says, "Highly
ranked on my list of musicians that I wanted to work with was Ron Sexsmith...
And Ron said he wanted to do it. I was thrilled. His warm and personal voice
would be included on my record!" And now it's included on "Duets".

Hi
all... I just wanted to take this time to express my condolences to all those
affected by Hurricane Katrina both directly and indirectly. New Orleans is one
of the most beautiful cities in the world and certainly one of my favorite
cities to visit in the USA. I sincerely hope that in time they can somehow
manage to rebuild and restore not only the buildings but the spirit and hopes
of the people, their incredible culture and historic musical heritage.

symbol of men's opposition to men's violence against women. There are many
people on the bill and Ron will only play one or two songs but this is a cause
worth supporting and should be a great night out.

In
a feature article in the May/June issue of Performing Songwriter, John Prine
talks about other songwriters:
Prine counts Bob Dylan and Hank Williams as early influences. He finds Williams
exceptional because his weighty legacy depends on a catalog compiled in such a
short period of time. Currently, he also considers himself a fan of Elvis
Costello, Nick Lowe and Van Morrison ("because he sticks to his
guns"). Among younger songwriters, Prine is particularly fond of Ron
Sexsmith. "I love his words," he says, "but it slays me that
somebody can come up with new, exciting melodies like he does. He's got his
head turned in a certain way and he's saying this one thing, but he's saying it
differently in all these songs."

Just
released on Sanctuary: Moodswings by Brodsky Quartet ... a collection of songs written and performed
various singer songwriters and Brodsky Quartet, and featuring the previously
unrecorded Dumptruck by Ron Sexsmith. Not only did he write it, but Ron also
sings on the record. Other artists appearing with Brodsky Quartet on this
release are Elvis Costello, Sting, Meredith Monk and Bjork. Since their
formation in 1972, Brodsky Quartet has been at the forefront of bringing
chamber music to new audiences around the world and their collaboration with
cutting edge songwriters, poets and choreographers has kept them fresh for
these 30 years.

Well, as
some of you have mentioned it has now been 10 years since the release of my
major label debut "Ron Sexsmith". As you can imagine, it brings to
mind all sorts of memories, feelings and mostly a sense of relief that I've
been able to continue all this time. The record itself, I'm still quite proud
of. I met with so many different producers and the whole process was very
confusing. I had a better idea of what I wanted to avoid than what I wanted to
do. Fortunately I was able to work with Mitchell Froom who helped me pick the right
songs (out of about 50 or so) and steered me in the right direction I think
The album
initially was hated by most of the people involved at Interscope Records and
almost didn't come out at all. When it was finally released in 95, it was with
very little fanfare and almost no promotion so it was quite amazing and
unexpected when Elvis Costello decided to hold it up on the December issue of
Mojo magazine. That one generous act in many ways saved my shaky little career
by creating interest in other parts of the world and forced the label to give
it and me a second chance.
Although
it didn't go on to be a big seller, it gave me a leg to stand on and platform
in which to continue. When I hear it now, I can hear myself trying to find my
voice. I had been listening to Little Jimmy Scott and as a result my phrasing
was quite behind the beat. Mostly I was just trying do a good job because it
was my first shot in the"big leagues". Mitchell insisted that I play
all the guitars which I think ultimately made me a better player and Tchad
Blake's sparse/left-field production created a slightly dark atmosphere to
warble over. If you listen to "First Chance I Get" during the lead
solo there are actual tree frogs squealing away in the background. On "In
Place Of You" towards the end you'll hear Jerry Marotta slamming the door
of his drum booth. Some producers would have edited that out but Tchad actually
spent time trying to bring that up in the mix.
During
the sessions we all stayed in a band house in Woodstock NY watching movies and
drinking scotch and on one of our days off I got to play guitar on a track
Suzanne Vega was recording for a Leonard Cohen tribute album. It was all pretty
exciting for me looking back. I guess before I close I should also touch upon
the alternate version of "There's A Rhythm" produced by Daniel
Lanois. His moodier take was recorded in Quebec and Toronto and was brought on
by the label's desire for me to re-do the entire record with Dan. It was kind
of a stressful period because I just wanted it to come out as is and it was a
bit awkward for Dan I think, to be in the middle of the conflict. We had a
great time though, and best of all he turned out to be quite an excellent
photographer and shot all the photos for the package.I'd like to think I haven't
aged too much in 10 years :O)
Well in closing, I want to thank everyone for
listening - all the various artists and music critics who said nice things
about the record and saved me from the bottomless pit. Here's to another 10
years.
Love, Ron
Sexsmith

Hi everybody... As 2005 gets underway it looks like it's shaping up to be a
productive year in my little world. The "Sexsmith and Kerr" record is
coming together
nicely. Don has just started mixing it and I'm really pleased by what I've
heard so far. We're not sure yet how or when this will be released but we'll
keep you posted. I've also been sifting through 20 new songs which I hope to
record in the coming months once I settle on a producer. And lastly, I just got
wind of a few possible Canadian dates around the spring and summer that we're
looking at. I apologize once again to the folks down in Australia for not
making it there this time around but it's definitely high on my list of things
to do once we start touring again. That's all for now. Take care and, if you're
in my part of the world, stay warm.
Love Ron

Hi
everybody - Just wanted to thank you all for coming out to the shows and
cheering us on. As the 2006 tour fades away into my memory, I'm in awe at how
fast it went by. We had a lot of bad luck in Europe but more often than not,
the shows and the audiences made up for it. I'd like to apologize to anyone who
came and heard us on a bad night. Sometimes the sound or venue was less than
ideal, sometimes I was singing badly and a few times we were all just sleep
deprived or running on empty but we always tried to do our best. So thanks
again for all your support and for listening.
In
January we will head out and play some US shows. It's been a few years for me
since I've done a proper tour down there so I"m quite excited about it.
(Sorry for the delay of Time Being as well.) I'm also hoping to organize an
eastern Canada tour at some point in '07 too (and record a new album somehow).
So in
closing, I'd like to wish you all a very Happy Holiday. Take care of yourselves
until next time.
Love Ron

Bruce
Cockburn releases his first studio album in 3 years, Life Short Call Now,
today. The album features an appearance by Ron on a song called Mystery. Denise
Sheppard at Amazon.com says "Mystery is straight-up classic Cockburn, yet
the inclusion of Ron Sexsmith, Hawksley Workman, and Damhnait Doyle is not just
beautiful but also clever, as it shows the genealogy linking Cockburn's effect
on subsequent Canadian songwriters." Ron says, "I was honoured to
asked by Bruce to sing on this song. It's a wonderful recording and it's the
kind of song that you hope for from Bruce."

Being. Worldwide release dates will be posted soon. In the meantime, All In
Good Time is making strides at radio in Canada. Check out the Messageboard for a list of stations playing
the song and details on how you can help make this song a hit.
A few
more shows and one more person have been added to the June tour. Check the Tour Dates for the additions. As previously
announced, Tim Bovaconti will be joining Ron for these dates and it now can be
confirmed that Jason Mercer will be along as well.

Now
that Ron has completed his US Nick Lowe tour and wrapped up the band tour in
eastern Canada, he should be relaxing at home, right? Well... not quite. Ron

He will be playing a few songs each night, some solo and some with Blue Rodeo
backing him up. He even may play on some of their songs. Luke Doucette and Oh
Susanna will be also be on select shows. Since these are not full Ron shows, we

catching - you never know what might happen. The itinerary is:

Hello

I just got back from NYC where we got a little further on the new disc. I'll be
heading to the UK this weekend to hopefully finish up all my stuff before they
mix it. I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming Niclk Lowe dates and I
hope to see some of you out there.
All the
best.
Love, Ron .

More
Tour Dates have now been added, a couple of Canadian wine
festivals and other shows. But the big news here is that from September 17
through October 2, Ron will be on tour in the US with Nick Lowe who is out promoting his new album "At My
Age". Some of you may remember that Nick Lowe is a longtime fan of Ron's,
going so far as to perform Secret Heart live on many occasions. These shows
should be lovely and sthere's no doubt that something special will happen each
night. Make a road trip if you must, just get there if you can.

Hello
everyone... its been awhile since I've submitted anything so here goes. This
year has been quite busy with touring and recording. A few months back, I was
in the UK working on my next record with my friend Martin Terefe. We took a
little time off and last week we resumed work on the album in Havana Cuba of
all places - now that was a pretty interesting trip. As you can imagine there's
really nothing Cuban about my music and we're certainly not making a
"world beat" album (or even "Graceland") but we did get
some cool horns and percussion on a few tracks.
This
summer will be busy with a mini tour of Spain and a bunch of festivals in
Canada. We're still focusing on the USA with possible residencies in Austin and
NYC coming up and hopefuly another tour as well. I'm also very much looking
forward to the Canadian east coast shows in October. Those dates will be posted
soon. Well, I
guess that's about it until next time.
Cheers, Ron

surprises and we'll even unveil some new merchandise... hope to see you there.

Hello
everybody - It's with a great sense of relief that I was able to get through
the USA tour. Pretty much from the beginning, my voice felt a little weak and
then after a few shows it had completely failed me. On top of that, I came down
with one of the most stubborn colds I've ever experienced. So I just wanted to
thank everyone who came out for their patience and understanding. I hope the
shows didn't suffer too much. For all the folks in Virginia, I'm excited that
we will be coming back through in March to make up for the one show we
cancelled there. This year is still young (and so is the album, at least in
America) so I look forward to getting back down there for some more touring
opportunities both with band and solo. Somewhere in all this, I'm hoping to get
started on my new record so that it might have a chance of coming out in '08 -
I'm quite excited about the new tunes. Well, I guess that's about all for now.
Thank you all for checking in, for coming out to the shows and for being so
supportive. See ya soon. Love, Ron

are teaming up to rework a classic Ron tune and give it a whole new sound. Ron
will be the featured guest on GO!, CBC's Saturday morning show, hosted by Brent
Bambury. Brent's hired an arranger, a pack of hungry classical musicians and
together with Ron, they are going to put a classical twist on one of Ron's
songs. The song remains a secret, but if you want to witness its world premiere
in person and you live in Toronto, send an email to reserve a seat in the studio audience. The
only catch: the whole thing starts at 8:30 AM and it's live, so don't be late!
If you can't be there, tune in to the broadcast or the webcast at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.

Here
is a review from the Seattle show in the form of a fan letter:
"Dear Ron, I was lucky enough to be standing right in front of you at your
Seattle Crocodile Cafe performance. It was lovely, and at one point I did cry.
It was "Several Miles" that both moved me and surprised me the most:
To hear it without any studio production, layers in the guitar melody seemed to
emerge which I'd never heard before. It was rich and purposeful, like an
ambrosial tide that kept persisting at the shore - at my heart, I suppose.
Because the lyrics have such special meaning for me... yeah, it stole a few
tears from me. From my audience vantage point, the quiet admiration of everyone
there was amazing - I'd not seen an audience so engaged. So I know we'll all be
looking forward to your next visit to Seattle. I hope it is soon. Thanks for
one of the best live shows I've ever seen."

Steve
Bachman sent in a great review from the show at the 400 Bar in Minneapolis, the
whole of which can be found on the Bulletin Board. Here is an excerpt: Ron came
on at about 10:00 after a 50 minute set by Peter Stuart. He apologized for
having a little bit of a "Joe Cocker thing" going on with his voice,
a certain raspiness that he admitted "might not be a bad thing." His guitar
playing as always was very distinctive and it made more of an impression on me
than it has when I've seen him before. About about an hour after he took the
stage, Ron played "Seem To Recall" and the left the stage. When he
returned for the faux encore, he claimed that he'd only left to get a beer.
First he played "Pretty Little Cemetery" and then a cover of Anne
Murray's "Snowbird." He called it the Canadian National Anthem. He
closed the set with "Secret Heart." At 11:23 and after at least a
couple of minutes of enthusiastic applause, Ron reappeared and appeared to be
genuinely moved by the response. He then closed the show with perhaps his most
beautiful performance of the night with "Riverbed." Thanks for the
report Steve. To read the Puff The Magic Dragon story, check out the full
review!

There
is a new review posted on the Bulletin Board from Janet Stevens in Bristol.
Here is a small portion of it: "I was really excited to find out quite by
chance that Ron was on in Bristol this month. I went to see him for the first
time last year on the recommendation of a young singer I know... (she) rates
Ron as one of the best live acts and songwriters she's ever seen and I agree
with her. He "connects" with his audience and his songs are simply
beautiful. Ron came on stage looking like a tousled haired school boy and soon
had the audience under his spell. He covered songs from all three albums and
some new ones. Highlights for me were 'Strawberry Blonde', 'In a Flash',
'Galbraith Street' and the sublime 'Speaking With The Angel'. At the end of the
night...we all wanted more. Come back soon Ron and thanks for coming to the
wild and woolly west of England - not many class acts do!" Thank you Janet.
|
-
The reviews just keep pouring in! Peter Fitzpatrick sent a great account of
the show in Dublin, posted in full on the Bulletin Board. Here is an excerpt:
"Highlights for me were Ron's two new songs, 'God Bless This Cheap Hotel'
and 'Fallen For You'. Despite running perilously close to the venue curfew our
rock & roll hero(!) came back for a second encore to perform Galbraith
Street. Go on Ron! You rock and roll rebel." There is much more from
Peter, including a Shaft reference in his full review, check it out!
In what is the sweetest review ever, Anne Griffiths of Edinburgh writes:
"We have been visited by an angel tonight! Mr. Sexsmith gave an absolutely
heavenly performance for us, it couldn't have been better. What a dear, dear,
sweet captivating man!" Many fans feel the same way but no one has ever
before hung a halo on Ron! Thanks Anne.

Steven
McCormick writes: "My first time at King Tut's Wah-Wah Hut, Glasgow, and
my first Ron Sexsmith gig. After playing his three albums to death, and attempting
bad versions on my own acoustically, I've been desperate to see Ron live. After
a two hour or so drive, I was not disappointed. From the introductory 'Words We
Never Use', through the rest of the set, Ron was on top form. Self-deprecating
humour (his 'Medieval haircut' and 'fat Elvis period'), a guitar style that
sadly doesn't shine through half as well on record, and a voice that could
soothe Titan's rage. Anyway, Ron rocked. Say no more." Great reporting
Steven, thanks!

|
Here
is the first word from Scotland, an excerpt of a note sent to Ron by Stuart
McLean: "Just thought I'd write to say how much myself and my friends
enjoyed the gig at The Attic in Edinburgh. Your gig was like watching an
emotionally charged Hollywood blockbuster, one which makes you weep, laugh and
brings back memories etc. Which is no mean feat coming from a solitary guy
singing and playing the guitar. I have just been introduced to your material and
must say that your material is absolutely fantastic, why has it taken me so
long? You have a rare talent and are one in million. Hope to see you back in
Scotland again soon, hope you enjoyed your time here." Thanks for sharing,
Stuart!

Another
fan from Dublin writes in, this excerpt from John Kilcar's, the whole of which
can be found on the Bulletin Board: "It was a very enjoyable evening, with
an excellent performance from Ron. I've a lot of admiration for a guy who can
stand up on stage with just an acoustic guitar and deliver a performance that
sounds as good as the record. He said he wanted to be fair to all his records,
so to that end he'd try and play an even number of songs from each. There were
a couple from the new Steve Earle produced record - One called 'Fallen', the
other title I didn't catch. Ron was in very good form, and seems to like
playing Ireland, I suppose due to the response he gets. At one moment a lady
approached him on stage with some Tequila, salt and lemon which Ron downed to
everybody's delight!!" Sounds like everyone had a good time - thanks John!
|
-
|
News
on the tour from Colm in Ireland: "Reporting in on Ron's HQ show here in
Dublin this weekend gone. It was a brilliant evening out! Ron was in excellent
form, the best we've heard from him yet! Seeing him out there alone on stage, he
can really hold an audience. This was his best show ever for me as he finally
played my favorite song! He did a fantastic version of a dylan song too. He
played some songs from the new album (can't remember the names - sorry) and
from the sound of them we're in for another round of great songs! And to think
he apologized for coming back so soon! As they say, all good things must come
to an end." Thanks Colm!

Brian
Lillis of Cork sent in a glowing review of Ron's show. Here is an excerpt:
"The gig in Cork was great. He has a good following over here and the
crowd were receptive straight off. He played two new songs off the forthcoming
album and they were just pure Ron Sexsmith. I think he was genuinely surprised
with the response and it just made him sing better. He was made to comeback for
two encores, he would have played more only for the fact that the club owners
told him he had to stop. Everybody loved it, please come again." Thanks
Brian!

On
Saturday, Ron Sexsmith attended Nashville Riverstages - an outdoor event
featuring some great bands. He started the day by enjoying a set by fellow
Interscope label mate Matthew Ryan. Then friend (and sometimes support act)
Josh Rouse took the stage and played a rocking set. The tone took a turn when
The Blind Boys of Alabama testified - their version of "If I Had A
Hammer" had the crowd singing and clapping along. Next came Ron-fan and
email pen pal David Mead (on RCA), who played a set that had us all mesmerized.
The ending set by Randy Newman was a great finale... only to be topped by his
invitation for Ron and Don Kerr to come backstage and say hello. Needless to
say, it was a wonderful end to a fabulous day.

Hello
everyone, In a few days I'll be heading down to Nashville to record my 4th
album for Interscope records. I still can't believe I've lasted this long!
Anyway, I'm looking forward to working with Steve Earle and hopefully we'll
make a record that'll be a fine addition to the previous 3.
All the best till I see you again. Love, Ron Sexsmith

Well, the current Ron Sexsmith tour has ended and Ron is home, making
preparations for his next record. There is however, one last fan review from
the tour that must be posted: "Here is my review from Göteborg/gothenburg
8th april at Trädgårn. Travelled 300km last time (Stockholm/Sweden 2nd night)
Was it worth? YES!! Travelled 300km this time (Gothenburg/Sweden) Was it worth
it? YES and YES! It really shines through how great his songs are and how
extremely good he is in making the audience feel great when he is standing
alone on stage. Will I be on the next show? YES!" Many thanks to Peter C.
and all the fans who shared their Ron Sexsmith experiences!

Ron
Sexsmith played Uppsala Sweden on Monday, April 3rd. The next day, a great
review was posted in the local newspaper. The translation is a bit dodgy, here
are some highlights: "Ron Sexsmith left his band at home and tours Sweden
with a guitar as his companion. But, of course, he creates magic anyway... There
is no question that he is as good as it gets anyway. He sometimes sings more
sensitive and naked than ever before and in between songs he talks with the
well known Sexsmith irony like 'enough talking, I have too many hits to
play.'" The writer goes on to say that Ron played favorites like
"Idiot Boy", "Right About Now" and "Secret
Heart", plus two new ones, a Ray Davies cover and a duet with Ana Egge
before finishing up with "In A Flash". By the way, we're pretty sure
Ron didn't literally sing naked. But then again, we weren't there...

A
fan from Denmark gives this report: "Ron's March 29 show at Vox in Aarhus
was well-attended (which seemed to surprise Ron), and was greatly appreciated
by those present; "rapt attention" might describe his reception..."
Thanks, Paul!

Hello
all, Just completed a small tour of the UK concluding with 2 shows at London's
Jazz Cafe. Along the way, I recorded a song for an upcoming Ray Davies tribute
album and I also sang on a track which I wrote with Glenn Tilbrook (from
Squeeze) for his solo album in the works. Anyway, having a blast, hope to see
you all somewhere along the way.

different in terms of the venues (we even played an old converted stable!).
"The Fleadh was great, I got to see my friends the Barenaked Ladies, John
Prine and hooked up with Elvis to watch the Pretenders from the side of the
stage (he joined them for "What's So Funny..."). Anyway, thanks for
noticing me,
